Gates of Light and Shadow

The great schism split the city-state of Joolford into two halves and destroyed the independent university of Kez-Mator. As a result, Zalman Ginsberg left his ivory-tower research position to search the empty deserts around Joolford for a set of scrolls written in a language forgotten since the beginning of the world. Finding the scrolls led him to a new understanding of reality and the ten gates that allowed him to understand his true nature and the nature of the whole world around him. With his knowledge, Zalman could unite the whole world. Why are both sides of the schism and his former fellow researchers trying to stop him?

Wind Edwards can see both his present, future, and past lives as they stretch across the long arc of time. He decides to interrupt his past karma and influence his future karma in order to rewrite his history and control his destiny. Wind wanted to become a man outside of existence.  He creates a machine that allows him to see into his past and future selves, but what he learns almost destroys himself and the fabric of the universe with him. If Wind can save himself, he can save the world, though his prospects look dim.
